Glad to be back in San Francisco
After about 5 days in Salinas California, I'm glad to say i'm back in San Francisco. Sorry for the lack of updates on the Irfo Blog (no thanks to the contributors), but it'll soon be back to it's schedule of daily posts.
Recap of Salinas trip:
got a ride from two rad girls
at a bunch of rad food made by a rad woman
hung out with two rad dogs
hung out with a bunch of rad Salinas folk (including 1 that i thought was a douchebag, but ended up being cool)
realized how much i missed San Francisco

Death of Batman
Batman R.I.P., a story arc penned by Scottish writer Grant Morrison that will conclude in Batman #681, will see the “end of Bruce Wayne as Batman,” according to an interview with the author that appeared in the trade publication Comic Book Resources.
“People have killed characters in the past, but to me, that kind of ends the story,” Mr. Morrison said. “So what I am doing is a fate worse than death. Things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all.”

Not so FAST?!?1
So, I'm going to fast until thanksgiving. I've never fasted for more than a couple of hours in my life, so i may give in soon... but, i will try. Until thanksgiving, nothing goes into my system except for booze, jell-o (made a fresh batch of strawberry!), coffee, various flavors of froze-fruit ice cream bars, and maybe a apple or several apples.
If I'm unwilling to go out, and seem lethargic in anyway, it's probably because i don't have the proper nutrients that my body is used to.

If you're at all interested in movies...
you should watch this.
Director Ronson was invited to the Kubrick Estate to go through thousands of boxes that Kubrick had saved up throughout the years and what we see are some rather amazing items, which show why it took the director so long to make movies.

How to buy a tux:
The new issue of GQ just put together a guide to how to properly find the right tux. Such information is super useful to most guys because the majority of men I see in suits have absolutely no idea what they were going for, and it shows.
Granted, comparing yourself to Brandon Flowers in a suit would be like a woman comparing herself to Gisele when trying to find a bra, it's depressing and unsatisfying and reminds you of how far you really need to go in life, but still, eye candy is never bad. Especially when it's Brandon Flowers flavor.

Wintour to step down
People are talking and rumor has it that Vogue head-sass-in-charge Anna Wintour is currently looking for someone to take her place.
I don't blame her, the lady is old and probably growing tired of having to face the world everyday from atop her 6-inch Christian Louboutins, sitting next to the Olsen twins front row at a Marc Jacobs show. I, on the other hand, am not. And would love to take her place.
Someday...someday...
get close to their pipe and they won't attack you

Loligo pealei squids have eight arms and two tentacles, all of which are coated with suction-cups, lined with fangs composed of chitin. These tiny suckers, whose diameters are around 400 microns, ultimately allow the half-meter-long squid to get a solid grip on its environment. (Courtesy of Jessica D. Schiffman and Caroline L. The possibilities are truly endless
Some friends and I were discussing my passionate love of funnel cakes the other night, which not only prompted me to incessantly dream about these rarely encountered but sinfully delectable gifts several hours later in my sleep, it also made me think of all the amazing ways there are to truly enjoy a funnel cake.
Sure, I am used to my usual routine of strawberry topping, whipped cream, powdered sugar and the occasional dollop of chocolate syrup, if I'm feeling saucy.
But what about funnel cakes and cheese?! Sort of like an inverted grilled cheese. That would probably be tasty seeing as those anything fried, doughy or cheesy could never, ever possibly be part of any negative scenario, at least in my cookbook.
Also, a funnel cake scramble. I rarely eat a full, hearty breakfast, but when the occasion presented itself, the funnel cake would substitute regular old toast or biscuits, and simultaneously serve as a plate on which eggs, bacon, sausage and the like could be piled atop. It saves table space and also cuts down dishwashing time for those of you who do not achieve a sort of zen-like meditated relaxtion from cleaning as much as I do.
My friend Jeremy, who has far more culinary expertise than I ever will, also suggested fish and funnel cakes as opposed to your standard fish and chips, which initially didn't really sound all that appealing...but after careful consideration I decided would probably be delicious and a bit sweeter and less greasier.
Any more suggestions?

Trapped between a hardplace and a hardplace
last night i was riding my bike toward The Bottom of the Hill. I was zipping along the road with a row pf parked cars to my right. As i approached Thee Parkside bar, a cab pulls over and the door swings open and BLAMO! my bike hits hard into the door. i was a bit dazed, so i'm not too clear on what happened, so here is a excerpt of the email from the woman who opened the cab door.
"I'm happy to hear you are ok- considering you flew over a taxi door:) horrible. i think im permanently traumatized and feel that this experience reaffirms that i should never drive a car...ah."
all in all. i walked away with just a few scrapes and bruises. a messed up front wheel, a possible stripped stem, and a new mindset of watching out for car doors.

Talkin' politics
Two things can happen tonight:
1) Obama wins...if so, i don't want to hear any more griping from black people. If a black person can rise to the top of the American food chain, then it pretty much levels out the playing field. i don't want to hear about the plight of the black man, i don't want to hear about how whitey is "keeping you down" etc...
2) McCain wins...if so, there will probably riots in the streets. There will probably be a lot of economic talk of how much Obama streetwear will either be some sort of rare commodity, or how much wasted energy and resources all that Obama merch has contributed to. Uproar
